Lovely evening for Sir Sebastian

Heerlijk Avondje voor Sir Sebastian
dec 2, 2019

Hey day readers and readers! Here's your very own Exciting Pack-Pakjespiet with a short update about the Sinterklaas fever that is gripping our little frog country. How are you doing? Up to your ears in the cardboard boxes and tape behind your elbows for the surprises? Or have you been rhyming for days until you drop? Plenty of peppernuts smothered already, I hope... They taste fine to me again this year!

Exciting parcel evening

I quickly write this scribble between the companies, because it's nice and busy in the lingerie industry. The orders are flying around the neighbourhoods. Apparently my call to put a lot of designer lingerie in the bag this year has had an effect - that's always nice to notice for an influencer with a heart for the business. Have you already done the shopping? Are there any nice sets and fruity boxers on your list yet? Well, I can tell you. By the way, it's a good thing that I made an early start this year with the preparations for package night, because suddenly there was an extra Lovely Evening this week...

There's a knock at the door...

It was Wednesday night, about 8:30. I lay quietly by the heating with a cup of hot chocolate and a few drops of rum, brooding on my poem. What rhymes with "no one's business"...? Then all of a sudden: there was a knock on the door! Knocked hard. Gently knocked. You know it. Who would that be?

M'down

To my great surprise I saw a royal messenger standing in the rain when I opened the door.

Complete with orange umbrella. With a measured "Good evening, m'neer S'bastiaan" he put a decent envelope in my hand. With an equally short "At your service, m'neer" he turned around and disappeared into the night. There you are, with an official letter from the Royal House clamped in your paw. Shivering, I closed the door behind me, ready to embrace my still warm drink.

Curious

Now, you know I can often control myself very well, but I was a bit curious about the content of this mysterious message. Would it be a thank you for my efforts in the royalty area this year? Maybe a little Christmas bonus from the Crown? Or an area denunciation because of the last time I was on Máxima 's doorstep unannounced... I decided to play hard to get, put the closed envelope on the dresser, walked to my chocolate milk and turned around again - on a trot back to the locker to eagerly deliver the letter from his paper prison.

Poetic form

It rhymed! Who sketches my surprise? The envelope contained a neatly written invitation on very expensive paper, with the following message in verse:

Dear Sir Sebastian,

It would please the Saint enormously
If you showed up on the fifth of December

In the name of all animals
Celebrating the Royal Sinterklaas feast with us

You are expected at the palace
For an evening of fun with cake and food

Hope you're not sulking
Cause we've already drawn a lottery ticket for you

From a person of great class
Who may surprise you with a surprise

In addition, you are obligated
To writing a beautiful poem

There may be a present
With something small, we're happy here too

Hopefully you will come immediately
Hailed to the Orangemen

For the feast of the Blessed Sacrament
Be on time - we'll see you then!

Yours sincerely, the Princess.

Surprise, surprise!

Phew! Guys, what a party! I held the envelope upside down and a little handwritten note fluttered out. On the double folded piece of paper was a name I was very familiar with...
I got to come up with a surprise for Máxima!

Cut and paste

You understand that I have to be brief, so I'll finish this message quickly. Can I cut and paste right away, think about a spectacular gift and of course a blistering poem for it. Package night is fast approaching, so I'm slightly under stress here, but I still have a week. Anyway, I have to get to work... I'll keep you posted, sweetie. Soon more on my royal adventures, but now a handful of peppernuts for inspiration...

Let's go, and another hot chocolate with a big splash of goodies in it!

With a warm greeting and wild noise,

Sir Sebastian

Entirely yours and with sincere wagging,

Sir Sebastian
