Buddies with your sister? The essential bra knowledge.

Maatjes met je zus? De onmisbare beha kennis.
sep 1, 2021

Good day dear lingerie fans. After having celebrated my International Dog Day on the 26th of August in a wonderful way, today I'm lying belly-up on the rug in front of the fireplace. My writer is already waiting with pen and paper to write down my craving for teaching lingerie knowledge.

Yes dear ladies, I'm lying in front of the fire. Because the dark days are rapidly approaching again. Unfortunately the days with skirts in this summer of 2021 can be counted on two hands, it was quite a summer. My beautiful coat rightfully shot into an unprecedented curl. Time to focus on what's hiding underneath those soft sweaters and thick pants. This month I have the tip of the winter season. This is what you as a hair wearer should know! What then, what then? I already mentioned it in my last blog. I'm going to initiate you in the secret of the sister sizes!

Sister sizes, let's talk about it

I often see it in the baskets of my lovely neighbours at Dutch Designers Outlet: bras that are just different sizes. Even if you know your perfect size, you've probably experienced that you fit more comfortably in a cup or size larger with another brand. And then that bigger or different bra fits just as good, or even better than the one you always wear? Hmmm, that got me thinking and of course I stick my good smelling dog nose into it. It is mainly about the connection between the cup and your girth. With the magic sister size trick you will always find the perfect size!

Stay nice in lingerie

If the wrong bra size is actually the right size and it fits you like a glove, you're talking about sister sizes. No dear friends, we're not talking about double standards. Well, actually we are, but in a body positive lingerie way. How does it work?

Well, to properly explain how it works with sister sizes, you can read a few blogs back about measuring your correct girth. What was the deal with the cup and the girth? Your bra size consists of numbers and letters. We all know that your size is measured just below your beautiful girlfriends, that is indicated in numbers, like 85-90 or 120.

Dear ladies, put on a good bra! Because then your breasts will be just like you want them to be. And you measure your cup size over your breasts. Because if you do that in your bare nothingie (nothing against that of course), then there's a chance that the larger breasts hang a bit more and then your cup size goes in a completely different direction than necessary. The cup size is the letter of your ideal bra size. For example A, B, C or FF. Together they form your bra size.

The sister size trick

Now comes a nice trick, I did not make this up myself: If you compare a cup of a bra with each other, then you can see that the cup of a bra with a size 70G is just as big as that of a size 80E but also just as big as a 95B. The meaning of sister sizes is that a cup has the same size in several circumference sizes. This is because a cup size is always made in such a way that the cup remains in proportion to the circumference. If the circumference becomes larger or smaller, the size will change. But the size of your breast will not change.

Trees and woods bras

Does this still sound like abacadabra? Well now it does, I'll put on my sweetest doggy muzzle and then I'm going to give you an example that you can try out immediately, a la minute: Grab a bra in your most purchased and worn size. For example, the 75B, a common breast wear size. If a bra that fits you in 75B is too wide, then you need to wear a narrower bra. So then you go to the 70 in circumference. Because the cup has to stay in proportion, your cup goes up one letter. The 75B then becomes a 70C. And you can fit it too! Is the 75 circumference too tight, then take a larger one: 80. And, you guessed it, my public is smart...then your cup becomes an A. So 80A. Et voíla!

Heavy bosom? Go for your little sister

Are you one of my dear readers now who is blessed with a nice big bunch of wood in front of the door? Then you probably like to have a nice supportive bra. Yep I know what I'm talking about, even I as a royal poodle understand that some things are heavy to carry and need support. (I have that with very large bones, I have to ask the boss to put them on my carpet...I digress).

So if you have a nice full bosom that needs to be supported well, then you want your girth band to fit well. Also on your back, because that's where your bra carries your voluptuous shapes. If you go for a bigger circumference, you won't give your girlfriends the support they deserve. It's often better to go for a smaller girth size than a larger one. Because let's face it, nothing is more annoying than having to pull on your bulging bra under your warm sweater or have your shoulder straps cut into your shoulders because your bra is too big. Nondenju, no need for that.

Need a new bra?

I hope I've been able to give you the trick, so you can pick out a nice fitting and good bra at my fine lingerie wonders at Dutch Designers Outlet. The prices are very good, they are excellent. But do you now feel that your bras are less comfortable, after the holidays you're just a size more or you've completely let yourself go in sports and you're a bit wider? Take a sister size and see if it fits better. You might be pleasantly surprised by the fit and also...by the new look. You can try out different sizes very nicely. Really, it works, try it out!

Entirely yours and with sincere wagging,

Sir Sebastian
