The rectilinear body shapes and their best swimwear matches

Zozo, I see that the attendance at my third Lingerie College is even more impressive than at the previous two... Apparently, more people are waiting for my figure tips and swimwear know-how than I thought! Just fine of course. Especially since I had to break down my previous class while some important body shapes hadn't been discussed yet. Shall we pick up the thread right away? If everyone wants to put the mobile phones in the bag and remove the fingers from the noses, ears and other body openings... Thank you very much!

Stay on the line

Right. Where were we? We discussed three elementary forms in our last meeting: the apple, the pear and the hourglass figure. All three based on round and triangular contours. With all those curves, angles and curves, we skipped an important shape. I'm sure you already know what archetypal shape I want to talk about here: today we're discussing the line - not necessarily the slender one we all want to hold on to so badly. The line is the defining element for both the long beach body with endless legs and the 'short but powerful' type. With the straight body shape, the curves that some believe to have too much of are less prominent.

The straight figure

If you have a straight figure, there's a good chance you won't be one hundred percent happy with it. I'll tell you right now: that's nonsense! Look at the model world: the straight silhouettes take in all the big shoots. Maybe you don't like that boyish thing? Well, apparently the rest of the world finds that very attractive to look at... On top of that, the sporty and young look of a straight body is always fun to play with - in terms of wardrobe choice, I mean, right?

Rounding Lines

The big trick is actually dead simple: choosing for swimwear suggesting round shapes without hiding all your own beauty. For example, choose a monokini instead of bikinis, but not in solid colours. Go for patterns full of round, flowing shapes - if possible in a vertical direction. Playful shapes can be made stronger with draping, ruffles, frills and volants. Break those straight lines and bring movement to your figure!

Short lines

If you have a line body that is short, be careful with overly busy prints and small cute patterns. Optically you look shorter, so combine the round accents from above with vertical elements. Length can be accentuated with some of those tasty high retro bottoms, or spicy high-cut bottoms.

Long lines

Is your straight body blessed with length? Only better, because you really have everything you need for that exclusive fashion look! You can show off your endless legs in shorts and swimwear with pipes. Watch out with vertical patterns and dashes, because they make you visually even longer. The same goes for swimsuits that are too short and monokinis - too much of the good is not meant to happen again. You can maximise your length by adorning the straight lines with flowing shapes such as ribbons, bows, sarongs and other swinging accessories. Let it flow, then you'll notice that the looks continue to glide along your elegant long lines this summer...

Rising lines

Okay, let's get a brief résumé. In summary we can say that rectilinear body shapes offer more advantage than the owner often thinks. You have the elegance of a photographic model in your home - exploit it by playing with the balance between the straight and the round. Make all those apples, pears and hourglasses jealous this year and splash around in the collection of Dutch Designers Outlet for a first round of holiday fun. The new swimwear collection gives you enough rising lines to knit it around this summer!

In our next class we'll leave the shapes behind for a while and look at the colours that look best on you in the summer sun - I look forward to seeing you again!
