FAQ

Best swimwear for bigger bellies

Tankinis, high-waist bottoms and shaping swimsuits with supportive lining and vertical lines. Choose firm, matte fabrics.

What makes swimwear slimming?

Darker colors, matte fabrics, shaping linings and vertical/diagonal lines. Pick styles that lift and center.

Which bikini should I buy?

Choose by fit and activity: triangle or balconette for shape, high‑waist for smoothing, sturdy straps for support. Look for chlorine/UV‑resistant fabrics.

Where to buy a bikini?

Lingerie/swim stores and trusted webshops. Check size chart, fabric, return policy and reviews. Try multiple sets for best fit.

Where to buy a bikini in winter?

Online swim specialists and outlets with resort collections. Filter by season, size and support; watch delivery times for sunny trips.

What to wear over a bikini?

Tunic, kimono, beach dress or linen shirt. Pick airy, quick‑dry fabrics and a length that fits your plan.

Best bikini color for fair skin?

Soft pastels or warm tones (coral, peach) add warmth; dark contrast lightens skin. Avoid cool white if it washes you out.

Bikini or one‑piece—what’s better?

Depends on comfort and goals: bikini for mix‑and‑match and tanning; one‑piece for shaping and active swimming. Choose what you prefer.

Best bikini for small busts?

Triangle or balconette with light padding/push‑up, texture or ruffles for volume, and adjustable straps for lift and shape.

Can you machine‑wash a bikini?

Yes—in a mesh bag on cold/30°C delicate with mild detergent. No softener, avoid hot cycles.

Can a bikini go in the dryer?

Prefer not—heat degrades elastane. Roll in a towel and air‑dry flat, out of sun.

Good day fine reader, nice to welcome you here to a new college from Dutch Designers Outlet her Lingerie and Swimwear expert. You definitely want to read this blog if you have the question "Which bikini makes you slim?" floating around in your head. Good news, because I have an answer to that question and know which bikini is suitable for a tummy.

I previously wrote several tips where curvy ladies can be smart about their swimwear - read: cover up the somewhat fuller belly and let the curves of the body come out to a more beautiful silhouette. For example, read about which swimsuit makes you slim or how your bikini can make your belly invisible.

This blog is different. I still have some things to say about the many benefits of beautiful swimwear that makes you slim.

The bikini that makes you slim does not exist

There is a need to find a bikini that makes you slim. It is true that wearing a bikini does not make you slimmer. But we can use optical tricks to make it appear that you are slimmer. As it were, we fool the eyes a little, making the brain think it sees something different than what it sees. And all without Instagram filters or bikini mode filters. How then!

What bikini to match which figure

As I mentioned in previous lectures, all ladies can be categorized into different shapes. This is different from me putting you in some pigeonhole, let's not forget that. The thing is that despite every body is different and whether you have a belly or not, there are broad similarities. For example, we distinguish the apple figure, the pear figure, the straight figure and the hourglass figure. I didn't come up with that myself, mind you! But just to provide an optical trick to make the apple look more like pear or hourglass, this comparison might be useful.

Wide waist and slim legs

We start with the bikini that makes you slim for the apple shape. You have a wide waist and slim legs, which makes you look a tiny bit like an apple shape. In doing so, you can have both small tangerines and some nice full melons as breasts. In short, a fruit basket full, but with delicious things.

To make your belly less noticeable, I do not recommend buying a tankini. This is because in it your belly looks bigger. No, you should shift the emphasis to your legs, which are your strong points. Therefore, keep it quiet. Also, with an apple figure, do not choose a bikini with small prints, that too emphasizes the very challenges you want to cover up. Go for large areas of color, solid colors and large prints. What you can do is choose a bikini with a high waist bikini bottom. That is totally back in fashion, by the way, and at Dutch Designers Outlet you will find lots of those high waisted bikinis in the collection! Pay attention to the cut of the bottom, choose a slightly higher cut to emphasize the length of your legs.

Slimming bikinis for a pear figure

Are you more of a lady with narrow shoulders and full buttocks and thighs? Then we call that the pear shape. Your figure will look best in a tankini, because that will shift the attention from your legs to your waist. Hello hourglass! Furthermore, for you, especially if you have narrow shoulders, the bandeau bikini top is totally fantastic. Choose a bikini top with lots of frills, embellishments, frills et cetera. This shifts the attention to your top and so your figure is optically balanced. Above all, let your breasts shine like a pear and choose a bright bikini top and pretty prints. For a bikini bottom for the pear figure: high cut is the best model for you.

Slimming bikini for the short lady

Are you smaller than average? Then choose a bikini with a thong bottom and high cut bottom, you will appear taller. Very high retro bikini bottoms are also a good option for this. And choose solid and solid colors. Because small designs like floral prints, polka dots and stripes will make you look even smaller. Our swimwear collection will help you filter out a suitable swimsuit or bikini.

Bikini that makes the straight and hourglass figure appear slimmer

Are you not blessed with feminine curves, but rather a lady with beautiful lines and a waist as wide -or narrow- as your shoulders and hips? Chances are then you have a so-called straight figure. Then I say: create curves! Especially with a bikini you can do that very well.

Don't choose a bikini in one color. No, for you just now all those cute designs are perfect. You can handle a lot when it comes to bikinis. The monokini is perfect for you, or how about a top with rounded lines? Like a halter top or a nice triangle bikini top. Stay a little away from the bandeau top, though, because it actually makes you look straighter again.

A bikini with underwire is perfect for you, too. By the way, do choose patterns with flowing patterns, vertical stripes or designs, and go for frills, ruffles, strings and accessories. Anything that moves is good. Opt for a bikini bottom with a strap or triangle shape. Yep, you'll be like the new Bond girl rising from the sea.

Are you also tall and have long legs? Emphasize that! A bikini with shorts looks great on you, and choose beautiful wavy designs. Prick a big bow on your bikini and choose strings in your bikini bottoms and oh lala, the beach goddess with a slimming figure parades into the vacations!

Hourglasses give beach bikini allure

Are you blessed with buttocks, waist and breasts. Hooray! Then you have an hourglass figure! Actually, you can wear anything when it comes to bikinis. What I would advise against is shorts as bikini bottoms, they make the buttocks look even rounder. If you do want that, my blessing you are right! Don't go for a swimsuit or monokini, but definitely go for the bikini or tankini. That little bit of nudity around the waist gives that wowie effect. Keep everything finely balanced by buying a bikini as a set. Mix and match is better for the long leathers. Also, don't opt for a big print, but do choose halter bikinis and triangle bikinis, then your figure will be totally balanced. And thus you will appear slimmer!

Men, belly in for slimming bottoms

Finally, what surprises me greatly is that minuses are still found every time when it comes to your own body. In my opinion, looks are more important than sizes and with the plus points you have (which you have a lot more, take it from me) you can cover up any minus points just fine. And let's face it, I see a lot more men with protruding bellies, jauntily dressed in swimming trunks, proudly parading on the beach. So feel free to shop your slimming bikini at Dutch Designers Outlet. Oh and throw in a man's bottom too, a slimming one of course.

Your belly deserves a collection with style

Now that you know how to cover your belly, it is time to browse through our shop. Before you know it, summer will be upon us and you will be stressing out without a swimsuit or bikini. Because although our collection of swimwear with style is large and diverse, the demand is also increasing as the season approaches. Logical too.

Do you remember which swimwear is most appropriate? Was a high waist bottom smart or not? Do you emphasize the breasts or not and maybe you want some extra support with an underwired bikini top. Whatever choice you make; make sure you feel comfortable in it. That might be the best tip I have for you.
