Orange on top, but what's underneath?

Oh boy, guttegut how buzzing it is again in our spring green country! Maybe it's even bubbling harder here at Dutch Designers outlet. Such a week of warm weather does wonders for orders when it comes to sultry sets. Apparently for many of you butterflies in the air means butterflies in the stomach. On top of that, of course, it has been skirt day all week.... I can assure you, from my ruthless chick-fingered perspective, that waxed legs and bikini lines are back in tip-top shape - apparently the best backdrop for a new thong or hipster, at least, if I can judge by the street scene.

What a neat little people we all are, aren't we? Especially nice that all those fresh spring lawns are neatly mowed again, down to the ankles. Maybe it's a good thing, by the way, that the starting signal for bare-legged season has been given, because there is a nice party coming up, as I'm sure you all know. You probably know what I am referring to: King's Day is upon us again! I will readily admit that this is still one of my favorite days on the calendar, dear readers. That shouldn't surprise you, since I've already reported on my meeting with the Orange Royals when they were enjoying a well-deserved break in the Austrian snow. So I have good news for everyone who is not averse to a drop of blue blood now and then: I have another rendezvous with the House of Orange on the agenda!

Public secret

Here's the thing: It's an open secret that our beloved Queen Máxima is not only a figurehead of fashionable gowns, upscale designer gowns and haute couture hats, but also an inspired wearer of chic designer underwear. Honestly, we can safely say that our own Argentinian grande dame is the Dutch frist lady of lingerie. I would love to show you the list of everything Máxima has already ordered from DDO in recent years, but unfortunately that is a state secret. Still, to cater a bit to your critical minds, my esteemed readership, I will share a screenshot of a recent app exchange I had very recently with Her Majesty. From this it is immediately apparent that she is serious when it comes to design that can be worn under a crown without any problems....

Redez-vous

You see, I have a direct line to the House of Orange-Nassau! Whoever still thought, against my better judgment, that my rising star in fashion land was a farce can now pack their bags with the redness of their cheeks. A secret date with Máxima herself, and not even at a reception or a meet and greet for a quick handshake, no: a highly personal reception to go over the latest ins and outs in the field of underwear. Yes, you see here the hard proof of what you have of course suspected all along.... It really does pay to follow your fashion guru on the beat! I can't tell you anything about the content of our little get-together just yet, but I promise to do my best to keep the balance between extreme discretion and a strategic information leak that the dogs can't eat!

Royal festive

Well, on to current events, then. King's Day is about to erupt, and your own Sir Sebastian has grand plans for a royal celebration. I almost wish I had a whole pack of my own at my disposal, because there is so much I would like to poke my nose into that I can hardly choose. Of course I will be right up front when the royal family acts in Amersfoort, but because of that I miss dozens of other fun events and festivities. For example, how about the following intriguing activity being organized in Amersfoort?

Great right? And so deliciously topical, too! By the way, in these times of hashtag-metoo problems, not only innocent pooches, but also respectable poodles have to be careful not to be grabbed by the bootstraps - or worse. Let it be clear that your Sir Sebastian stands in solidarity with every woman, man, cat and dog who is treated disrespectfully against his or her will. I mean, just because we do our best to look nice in our lingerie doesn't mean we invite everyone to take advantage of it, does it? Together we are strong, even on King's Day - I just wanted to say that. Next year we will organize our very own statement with a real Grab The Poodle if it's up to me!

Plenty to do

But there is much more to experience in our little orange country than the creative extravagances Utrecht is offering this weekend. All those performances, all those parties and all those celebrities! Who knows what there is to see when it comes to the latest lingerie? Just a musing on my part: do you think more orange underwear will be worn on our national holiday and party night? It almost has to be, right? Orange on top is all well and good, but what exactly is the situation when it comes to orange underwear? No one to get to the bottom of that.... The world of designer lingerie remains a mysterious field full of riddles and mystery. Good thing I'm here to shed a little light in the darkness and under the outerwear from time to time, then.

By the way, I am seriously considering dropping in on the darling Beatrix tomorrow. Not that I would dare to bother her with pressing questions about her choice of underwear, I am much too courteous for that. I was thinking more along the lines of a quick grab-the-tompoucey, if you know what I mean! Speaking of which.... What are your plans for King's Day and King's Night anyway? Are the orange outfits already laid out? Are the tickets for a fun party already in, or are you already occupying a spot at the free market?
